ONLINE SOUND COURSE

Learn to play, wherever you are

Level I, the training I teach in New River, filmed. Over twenty hours of video and a manual you download and keep. Gongs, crystal and Himalayan bowls, frame drum, Native American style flute, shruti box, chimes, and your own voice.

Self paced

Start the day you enroll and work through it in whatever order suits you.

Filmed close

Close enough on the playing lessons that you can see what my hands are doing.

A manual you keep

You download the full training manual. It stays yours.

Yours to revisit

Come back to any lesson whenever you want. The access does not run out.

A LOOK INSIDE

A minute of the course itself

A minute cut from the lessons themselves. Gongs, bowls, flutes, voice.

ABOUT THE TRAINING

The whole of Level I, filmed

This is the training I have taught in person for years, filmed. History and theory first, then harmonics and overtones, then hours of playing.

Most people who take it online cannot get to Arizona for two weekends. Some of them just want to see the material before they commit to a room full of strangers.

WHAT YOU PLAY

Every instrument, taught on its own

Gongs, crystal and Himalayan bowls, bells, chimes, frame and hand drums, rattles, rain sticks, ocean drums, shruti box, Native American style flute, and your voice. Every one of them gets its own lesson.

Seven frosted crystal singing bowls arranged in a circle on a wooden floor, each labelled with its note and chakra
Hamid sitting on a studio floor in front of a large gong, striking it with a soft mallet, with someone lying down behind him in the window light
Hamid sitting cross legged on a studio floor playing a long bamboo flute, a hanging gong behind him, a harmonium on the rug beside him and a second gong to his right
A studio laid out for a training, gongs on stands along a wall of windows, Himalayan bowls, crystal bowls, bells and a frame drum on rugs across the floor

You do not need all of this to start. Most people begin with one instrument and add to it.

WHO TAKES IT

For teachers, and for anybody drawn to sound

Yoga and meditation teachers bringing sound into a room they already hold. Bodyworkers adding it to what they offer. And people with no intention of teaching anybody, who want to know what they are doing when they sit down in front of a gong.

You do not need to read music and you do not need to sing well. The first lesson deals with that.

The term most of the field uses is sound healing, and the course spends time on why this one does not. Read the red flags

WHO IS TEACHING

I made this because I wanted it to exist

I have been working with sound for twenty five years and teaching it for more than ten. My music degree is from NYU and my doctorate is from UCLA, so the theory in here is the real thing and I teach it that way.

I came up through the sound healing lineages and the shamanic ones both. That is why there is a frame drum and a flute in here and not only gongs and bowls.

ENROLLING

Nothing renews. Everything opens at once, so you are not waiting a week for the next lesson. Checkout and the lessons are both on my course platform, which is where you log in afterwards.

“The measure of a course like this is not what you heard while you were watching it. It is whether you can sit down in front of a gong on a Tuesday, on your own, and know what to do next.”
